Marriage Friendly Church

Brad says…

I dream of a day when there are as many Marriage Pastors as their currently are Youth Pastors. Youth pastors are important, don’t get me wrong, but I dream of the day when the church pays as much attention to the ministry of marriage as they do the other parts of the family.

We all believe that marriage is important, but most churches have forgotten that we need to invest in marriage. Too many church’s marriage ministry consists of wedding planning and Divorce Care. This needs to stop! We need to raise up and demand that the Church becomes the university and the hospital for relationships.

I want to see the day that when a couple struggling in their marriage (which we all do) say to each other, “Well maybe we need to check out to that church down the road, I hear they help people grow in their marriage.” The Christian church should be known as a place where marriages grow! We have the instruction manual, why is it we don’t talk about it? (for more on this check out, my post The Marriage Pastor)

Marriage ministry isn’t a program or a class, it needs to be a revolution in the church that says, “marriages matter”. Most churches don’t know where to begin so they try a class and give up when it runs it course. We need a new approach, a new way of doing marriage ministry.

Helping the Church Help Marriages

April 21 – 23, 2015 the Marriage Ministry Conference offers a unique gathering of marriage ministry leaders who are passionate about marriage ministry in the local church.

If you want to take next steps in your marriage ministry and actually learn how to better prepare, establish, enrich and restore all marriages then you need to check out this conference.

You will have an opportunity to see and hear what is working in other congregations around the nation, and walk away with some plans on how you can implement a marriage revolution in your own church!

  1. This is so true.. Wife and I agree on this 100%. i saw your link to the conference and we would love to go but I am not sure how we could get it paid for us to attend… I really think this would be awesome to attend.

  2. I could not agree more! I am in the midst of marriage restoration and really could have benefited from strong support and teaching regarding marriage growing up in the church. It is great to see more resources like this and I pray that God uses me to support marriage ministry at my local church.

    • Thanks David! Lets hope that in the future there will be more churches investing in marriages! I think we all too often feel that we have to have the perfect marriage to help. When instead we need only to be open, willing and be moving forward in our marriage journey! Thanks for sharing, blessings, Kate

    • David,
Thanks for your comment! I’ve found that God doesn’t cause the challenges, but when healing comes he will use the experience to serve and help others! God will open those doors in time!

  3. Sounds like we are on the same page as you all! Justin and I won’t be attending this conference but would love to talk to the two of you about possibly speaking at our own church marriage conference this fall. Let us know if you have any interest in that and we can begin dialog.

  4. You’ll be so close to me! (Well, close for Texas.) I don’t plan to attend the conference, but if I did manage to make it to the area…

Anyway, enjoy the Lone Star State. We should have some good weather by then. I’ll pray for your experience. Blessings!

  5. Great post Brad.
Anecdotally it seems like the tide is turning around the country and I think we are on the front end of something amazing in the church!
Looking forward to seeing you there. Excited for several of my friends to meet you.

  6. You are SO singing my song here! Glad to see this conference, and others like it. A growing number of folks “get it” and I expect things to get better.
